Rafael or Rafa for short is Rio's and Carlito's father. He was a faithful husband and a great father to his kids. His parenting became better as he got older meaning that the way he raised Rio and Carlito were very different. While with Rio he was an avid smoker and drinker and tender to get involved in temper tantrums with his family frequently. His punishments for Rio were very physical and violent although they always had valid reasons in his head. With Carlito he was much older and you can say more mature. He had plenty of extreme experiences with Rio's choice of lifestyle since the more he got punished the more he rebelled, Rafa decided to take a more passive approach to raising Carlito. He hardly ever used threats or physical abuse with Carlito and tended to monitor with more intensity Carlito's actions than what he did with Rio. Aside from being with his family Rafa enjoyed being involved with nature. He had great knowledge in both plants and animals and had plenty of both in and out of their house. Rafa died eventually of cancer. |
